He may not be world famous, but King Canute is quite a well known historical figure in the UK. Fed up with being lauded by his courtiers as all-powerful, he had his throne moved down to the local beach and commanded the tide to stop coming in, which of course it didn’t. Point made about the absolute power of the monarchy not being that absolute, he returned to his camp and continued to grow his Empire (a little). An historical aside, his Grandfather was Harald Bluetooth from where we derive the name for that wireless technology.
I mention this story as we are seeing a number of companies operating in the traffic management space acknowledge that the tide of virtualization (and Cloud come to that) is not going to stop coming in, however much they yell at it. So they are introducing software versions of their solutions whilst still promoting the tin message as hard as ever. Just imagine the kind of internal discussions these companies are going through - What development path to take? How to balance hardware sales against software sales? What to say to a sales team who have been focused on moving boxes? Are you really going to be offered the best solution for you, rather than the best solution for them?
Zeus doesn’t have those issues. Our solutions are all software and can move from one environment to another seamlessly. We know what our development path is, know what we are selling to you and know that version 7.0 of our software keeps us right at the leading edge of traffic management technology. The sooner the tide comes in the better.
